Our Mission

  1. Promote comprehensive, evidence-based DBT individual therapy, skills groups, consult teams, education & training to the community

  2. Build and maintain effective, respectful relationships with those we serve and with our colleagues in behavioral healthcare and education

  3. Respect the values and principles of DBT and promote the integrity of DBT in its complete form with one another and as an evidence-based practice

Our Team

DBTGA is directed by a Leadership Team composed of trained DBT clinicians. The Leadership Team makes decisions under the dialectical philosophy of DBT- being curious and non-judgmental, looking for the grain of truth on both sides, checking to see what is being left out and by consensus, meaning “we probe issues until everyone’s opinions are understood, especially opposing opinions.  The decision is only made when everyone in the group says that they can live with that decision.” (The Collaboration Handbook, Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, 1997)

DBTGA includes a Development Team comprised of intensively or foundational trained clinicians partnered with 2-day DBT trained clinicians who maintain established skills groups and support the creation of new skills groups for under-served populations.

DEVELOPMENT TEAM

  • DBT-Adolescents

  • DBT Family & Couples Skills

  • DBT-University Program

  • New Program Incubation

JOINT TEAM FUNCTIONS

  • Source information and referrals for therapists seeking DBT training to increase their knowledge and skills, at introductory and advanced levels, at seminars and DBT Training Teams

  • Provide information and referrals to those seeking access to DBT therapists and skills groups

  • Develop new DBT programs for target populations (e.g. ADHD, elderly, prisons, etc.)

DBTGA was created to serve clinicians and clients by allowing clinicians to be easily found with clear understanding about their use of DBT as well as provide and promote greater adherence.
